Being a music teacher means much more to me than teaching students how to play the notes written on the musical page. As a music educator, my main goal is to offer my students endless musical experiences that are both positive and meaningful to their own personal development. I am also responsible for teaching my students how to see, think, recognize, and hear as musician, and to understand the importance of being musically literate. Read More

I'm an experienced musician and educator with the strong belief that anyone can learn and love music. I studied music at the New England Conservatory and Harvard University, and I've had the privilege of traveling throughout North and Central America performing jazz, classical, rock, and many other types of music. I've also been lucky enough to appear on recordings by a variety of artists, including singer-songwriter Ben Zaidi, acclaimed indie rock band The World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, and bass phenom Esperanza Spalding. I divided my lesson in four parts: Make find your own sound, Technique, HarmonyEar Training, Repertoire. If you are beginner student is a different intensity and difficulty than for a intermediate or advance student, but the approach is the same. I don't care about the lesson in itself, but I care that the student create his/her own musical path. I put a lot of passion in my teaching and I work for the student outside the lesson as well; making specific backing track and exercise for the specific student or helping him/her out for get in a band or to auditioning for music schools. I want to work to make my students into musicians, not just "singers" or "instrumentalists." I want my students to trust both my judgement and me as a person, and I do this through communication and honesty. Every student is different, and one teaching style or procedure will not work to anyone. I strive to be adaptable and flexible in my teaching style to give the best opportunities to each of my students. Read More

With the trumpet it is extremely important to avoid developing bad habits and to implement proper technique in order for appropriate muscle memory to set in. At any level it is important to ensure that proper technique is understood and implemented. These techniques take a personal touch from a seasoned professional to assess and explain. To further develop a solid foundation of sound fundamentals I work incrementally out of the Arban's Clark technique books. (As well as others) These books cover all aspects of a fundamentally sound trumpet player in an enjoyable way with progressively more challenging exercises. Read More

A Texas native, Clynt grew up exposed to a variety of music. The southern influence of blues, gospel, country, and jazz were a huge part of his musical upbringing. While his formal training was largely in classical music for many years, he also remembers learning his first tunes note-by-not from his father (a jazz and country musician) in their living room in Texas when he was not out of elementary school. Having experienced both formal and informal training methods all of his life, he is adept at providing either - or any ratio - of the two to a student in need. Read More
