I have been teaching trumpet since 2008 where I have been giving private, in home instruction. All of my students take part in the NYSSMA festival and annually score at the top of their class. Some students have made it into the SCMEA, NYSCAME, and All-State Festivals. I am a trained classical trumpeter and I am proficient on the Bb, C, Eb, A piccolo, G Bugle, and Flugelhorn trumpets. I have been teaching trumpet lessons for a decade, to students of all ages, and I also now teach beginning piano and trombone. I have also served as a Teaching Assistant in the Harvard Music Department. While I originally come from classical training and have the ability to deal with classical repertoire, I think there is much to be gained from trying to find and learn about the music that students love and connect to, be it Chopin, the Beatles, movie soundtracks, or Sara Bareilles. After graduating from college I joined the Peace Corps. I spent 2 years in Tehran, Iran playing in the Tehran Symphony Orchestra. I returned to the U.S. and went back to school to get my Masters degree. I worked as a music teacher in the Bronx, N.Y. for several years. After that I worked at an electronic music studio in Hawthorne, N.Y. The studio eventually shut down and I began teaching Band at the Stamford Public Schools where I taught music at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Read More
