My teaching includes all aspects of music; Musical theory, sight singing, as well as Music History. My teaching style allows the child to have fun while they learn their instrument, but I emphasize a strong practice regiment. Your child will understand that while learning music and an instrument can be fun, there will be some work involved if they want to become great. I usually use either the Alfred or Rubank method books to supplement a curriculum that I tailor make for each individual student. Read More

I began teaching trumpet lessons while I was in high school. I kept a small studio through college, and currently have several students. I also have taught workshops and masterclasses around the country. In 2018, I taught a beginning music class through the Morse Fellowship program at Juilliard. I have found in my time teaching that everyone learns differently. Each student deserves personalized attention because every one has differences in what concepts come naturally, what is difficult to grasp, and how ideas are best understood. Read More

I strongly believe in positive reinforcement for all students, especially younger players. It can be hard for people to understand, but progress on brass instruments can be very slow in the beginning which is why DAILY PRACTICE IS A MUST! The facial muscles need plenty of time to develop, so "keeping on the horn the face" is so important. No two students are alike, and everyone learns at his/her own pace. Read More

My journey in music took a couple of unexpected turns. As a youth, it was my intention to get a degree in trumpet performance, but life held a different path for me and I put the instruments away. Some years later, my wife- knowing how much I continued to enjoy music- suggested I take up trumpet again and I did, for which I'll be eternally grateful! I now perform in multiple ensembles in Westchester and Fairfield counties as well as in New York City in addition to maintaining a teaching studio where I can share my love of music. Read More

Throughout my teaching career, I have been guided by three principles: 1) In music education, "music" is the adjective and "education" is the noun. It is most important to educate the student *through* music, with the ultimate aim of "teaching them to teach themselves", so that they can enjoy a life of learning in music. 2) Care about the student as an individual. No student advances unless they are working with a teacher who truly CARES about them as individuals as well as their musical progress. Read More

These three basic characteristics I've found, win over a students faith in a teacher, and greatly increase the rate of comprehension, application, and acquisition of knowledge. I develop my curriculum around student interests, which fosters motivation and stimulates the passion to learn. One way to steer learning in a direction relevant to student interest, is to invite student dialogue about the lessons and units of study. Given the opportunity for input, students generate their own ideas and add to the pre-existing ones that have fostered my own imagination, and impact how I develop my lessons. Read More
