I begin by assessing each student's level, as well as their needs and desires, and then form a plan of action to address those needs. When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music. Some students have no experience reading music while others may be quite adept.
