For beginning students, I focus on the essentials of theory and intervals and combine with the Voice for Life method. Each lesson is tailored to the student's needs and goals, so no lesson is exactly alike in structure. For intermediate to advanced students, I focus on aural (ear) training, sight singing and rhythm and follow it with prepared pieces in order to be "audition ready". I have had more regular students since my early twenties, from young children to senior citizens. I believe the same rules of musicianship in classical based performing can be learned from a more contemporary aspect. I have been teaching since 1980. I am originally from North Carolina and moved to Colorado in the 80s. I am a member of National Music Teachers Association, Colorado State Music Teachers Association and Foothills Music Teachers Association. I have taught both at the private and public school levels and teach students beginning at age 5 through adult level. I have been singing and playing piano for over 25 years. I received a BS in music industry studies with an emphasis on business, from the University of Colorado Denver in 2008.
