I was born in Newark New Jersey in 1948 and began a life long love affair with the Trumpet at the age of three and a half years old. By the age of twelve I was performing in local clubs and was exposed early on to Newark Jazz greats such as Sarah Vaughn, Wayne Shorter, Woody Shaw and Larry Young. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music and find enjoyment! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace with fun. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

As a performing professional Musician who is continually learning, I would like to pass-on what I have gained throughout numerous years of Musical experiences. Having graduated with degrees from Manhattan School of Music, and from The Juilliard School, I "incorporate" Music Theory, Sight-reading and Ear Training as essential dimensions of my lessons, with the addition of playing Duets. Having performed under the direction of the world's most renown conductors [including Leanard Bernstein] and with Musicians, along with having studied with the finest instrumentalists are highlights of my career, along with having played Principal Trombone in the Norwalk Symphony for more than 16 years, having substituted on Broadway, and traveled with two International touring companys' Broadway Show productions. I use Rubank methoh books for beginner, intermediate and advanced students. I will introduce material from the Arbans method when students have reached a desired level. In addition, I'll find material in the genre that is exciting to the student but also develops their skills and techniques on the instrument. I create individual lessons and goals for each student based what needs to be improved, and what inspires them to practice and get better I am a strong believer in proper techniques, and that they can be obtained simulataneously while studying many genres of music. The approach I take is individualized and utilizes multiple teaching methods. Every student brings unique qualities and different interests and it is my job to find a way to connect those qualities and interests to music. One thing I emphasize is continued learning. If we are working on fundamentals of piano technique I find a way to slowly introduce more concepts that will be developed later on in our lessons. Read More
