For beginning students both children and adults, I typically start with Bruce Pearson's Standard of Excellence books. Once my younger students have progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire that is appropriate for their first recital performance. Each child is different so with careful evaluation of their specific needs and abilities, I decide on which approach would best fit that student.
