My teaching style starts with really trying to understand the student that I am teaching, when I can do that, it makes the whole process of teaching easier. I think it is super important that music be relaxed and fun. Many teachers throughout my life have adopted an approach based around harsh negative reinforcement which I've now had to spend years unlearning in my practice.
