For players just starting out, I always start with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements book. It is a good place to learn the notes, as well as how to read music on necessary. As a trumpet player, I am a firm believer in the Arban Complete Comservatory Method, and Clarke Technical Studies. These are the backbone of my fundamentals. I add these two books in as soon as I believe the student is ready. Read More
