I will move you along as fast or slow as you like, depending on how much information you are retaining. We will be doing a lot of memorization work, and written music theory, while you develop the necessary hand strength to play the guitar properly. So, with plenty of time, patience, and above all, PRACTICE, you will be well on your way to playing your favorite songs, and TEACHING YOURSELF new songs. Read More

I began teaching when I was 17 after I made friends who were younger through the mariachi summer camp. I taught music theory and the overall style of how to learn and build chords based on key signatures. Being able to show these kids so much about their instrument made me want to some day become a good tutor for someone else in need of lessons that are straight forward and to the point without having to worry about a tutor that's hard to work with. I love seeing students develop a deep and lasting passion for the guitar! I want every student to feel at ease and comfortable while learning and help them set goals that push them to achieve whatever they set out to, while eager to learn more. My hope is to provide lessons in a clear and easy-to-follow to manner, so they can not only make progress in the lesson itself, but carry forward what they learn into their day-to-day practicing outside of the lessons and utilize the techniques effectively toward their progress on the guitar. I also traveled to Ghana in the summers of 2007 and 2008 on grants through Wesleyan allowing me to study traditional drumming more in depth from master drummers there. Read More

I usually see what level the student is on and we go from there. The age and interest of the students will also tell me which way to go in the lesson. Usually with beginner students the Hal Leonard book is a good place to start but I'm willing to start with any beginning book. If the students are just interested in one specific thing then we focus on that. Read More

My Grandmother inspired me to play piano. My church taught me to sing. In high school I was involved in band and choir and was selected to tour Europe with a college group. To this day I work with foreign exchange students. In college I continued my musical studies although I majored in Public Relations. This allowed me me to take classes such as oral interpretation and work in radio/TV which enhanced my performing skills. Read More
