I use the method created by Adolf Herseth (Principle trumpeter in the Chicago Symphony for 50 years). I learned this method from William Fielder at Rutgers. This concept is based on using air as the primary energy source for producing sound. We will work on strengthening the breathing apparatus to be able to produce a pure clear tone that is without distortion. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress and makes students eager to learn more. As an educator my goal and ambition isn't necessarily to develop future professional musicians. (although I'm happy to do so) For me the more important and rewarding factor is assisting in growing a flame of a passion, love understanding of music performance into a wild fire! I feel the world is a better place the more people who have a first hand understanding and appreciation for the arts.
