I began teaching private lessons four years ago in various genres such as jazz, pop, musical theater, and classical - with a bit of music theory for those who have expressed interest. Students of mine have participated in recitals and have written their own compositions. My experience with teaching began when I was in high school. I taught two beginner flute students until I went to college in 2012. Since then, I have had students intermittently throughout my studies, and I am looking forward to building a permanent studio in the Hudson Valley. I encourage my students to practice and think about how to approach new materials to make it less frustrating for my students. In addition, I use familiar melodies which includes classical and modern selections to help support the learning. Technique, Listening session, Sight-reading, grooves and/or Bass lines, Rhythm variations, Duet Playing, all using metronomes, charts and Books. I also include a chat about life, music and music-business discipline. For the Double-Bass, i listen to the student’s needs and interests, and we work from there. Mostly Scales, Arpeggios, Intervales, Fingering, Instruments position, all of these with the bow, for better intonation.
