I majored in musical theater in college at SUNY Fredonia, where I studied voice extensively. I also love singing country, jazz and everything in between. I started my teaching journey in college, teaching children at my community theater camp for the summers. I’ve had the opportunity to perform in NYC in off-Broadway as well as with choirs, performing at Lincoln Center and The Kennedy Center. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to learning an instrument. I utilize a variety of different methods for the variety of instruments I teach (guitar, bass, piano, ukulele, voice). I like to meet with my students and get an idea of the pace in which the learn and how much effort they want to put in. I have an extensive list of teaching experiences in public schools and communities in Indiana such as the Boys and Girls Club and Middle Way House of Bloomington, and Bloomington public schools. I have taken methods classes on teaching band and string instruments. I have specialization in teaching clarinet and voice, as I have taken specific pedagogy courses designed on the very detailed approaches of teaching these two crafts. American cellist Sarah is active as both a performer and pedagogue in New York City. She is a member of the innovative ensemble, The Orchestra Now, under the leadership of Leon Botstein. Prior to joining TON, Sarah served as principal cello of the Mannes Orchestra and the Mannes Opera Orchestra. She has also served as principal cello for the Arezzo Opera Festival (Arezzo, Italy), MACE (Mannes American Composers Ensemble), Apotheosis Opera (New York, NY), the Joffrey Ballet School (New York, NY), and has performed in Carnegie Halls Stern/Perelman Auditorium, Alice Tully Hall, Severance Hall, Civic Hall and Symphony Space, among many others.
