I love seeing my students succeed and feel great about what they are learning and mastering. Because of this, I make sure to take each student into consideration and move them along at their individual pace. We set realistic goals in each lesson, while also pushing ourselves to be the best we can be! I like to give a clear understanding of what my students should be practicing while we are in the lesson, so that they are successful in their practice at home. Read More

I started teaching trumpet after graduating from Chiropractic school and have loved every moment of it. I mainly go to student's houses for teaching purposes, however, it is also possible to come to my office and/or home office to develop your trumpet skills. I have been exposed to many playing styles, therefore, giving me a well-rounded sound and ability to teach at multiple levels. Whether it's learning about trumpet mechanics or wanting to audition for a top ensemble, I can show you how to succeed. Read More

My teaching experience is composed of a combination of all my past professors. I have taken what works and does not work for the last ten years. Mr. Scarlatti taught me about accuracy and technique, Mr. Waidelich, who taught me to understand my musical needs, and Musicality, Mr. Hacker who challenged me in my reading, and performance, and Mr. Almeida who taught me to listen, to be consistent and the best at all I do wether difficult or easy. My teaching style is based on each student's needs. Some students like to learn at a fast pace and others like to go slower. I listen carefully and ask questions, basing instruction on what creates success. My approach is to make learning fun. I bring markers and stickers and other visual aids to create a unique learning process. I like to use games and sayings to help remember things, many of which I've developed over the years. Read More

For my advanced students (18+), depending on how advanced they are, I start them in the "First Book of _______ Solos" series. This series covers singing in English as well as several other languages and provides a good foundation for singing. Anything else I do with the student is on an individual basis. For younger brass students (10-14) I would teach out of the Standard of Excellence Books unless they are more advanced where I would start them in the Arbans Book, Robert Getchell Book, and/or Schlossberg Book. There should always be a balance between the two. One important aspect of teaching is listening, and while I will always assign something for the student to work on directly on their instrument, I always try and find something for them to listen to as well. This is a key component in any student's education. If you don't know how you want to sound, then how can I help you get there? Read More
