I have been teaching in the NOVA area for a little over three years now. I started when I returned from out of state and have not looked back since. I have maintained a studio of about 10-15 students almost consistently after about a year of starting. My students have ranged widely in age, from elementary students to retired adults who have have wanted to learn an instrument. I am a musician, composer, arranger, and educator originally from Waukesha, Wisconsin. I attended the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami from 2012-2016 and obtained a bachelor's degree in Studio Music and Jazz Instrumental on trumpet. I moved to New York and received a masters degree in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in 2018. I love playing and teaching the trumpet. I spent much of my time growing up involved in various musical endeavors, and performed with numerous ensembles in college. While I did not pursue a music degree, I continued to study under professional musicians, and worked diligently at my craft. Music is not my career, but it is a passion that I enjoy greatly outside of my DC office. For example, learning how to be a team player, creativity, and the reward of daily practice teaches the student about success in many different contexts. I do expect my students to practice at least four to five times a week so that lessons are as productive as they can be.
