I have been teaching brass instruments to students of all ages for over fifteen years now and I love it! I am very fortunate to have studied privately with many great teachers with varied teaching styles and philosophies which has helped me become a well-rounded educator. I have also had the orpportunity to perform with numerous ensembles throughout the United States and around the world. Playing the trumpet and french horn, I have performed in countless ensembles including orchestras, concert bands, jazz ensembles, brass quintets, woodwind quintets, brass bands, marching bands, drum and bugle corps, rock groups, circus bands, and many others. My music is an explorative collage of rhythm and harmony that incites emotion, creating a wild and memorable experience for listeners. I source inspiration from an array of influences, ranging from Miles Davis, to The Beatles. My musical pieces are born during a 3–4 hour session at the piano, and refined through excessive scribbling, and endless rehearsing. In the past year, I have expanded my professional development to work as an educator, and a scholar of music. Read More

For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly. For learning to read music I use one of the method books like "A Tune a day" or Strictly Strings which teach the fundamentals of read music and music theory. Read More

Admittedly limited, my teaching experience started when I was in High School when I became the marching Band's trumpet section leader. I really enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experience with otherswatching people grow in their musicianship is an incredible reward for me and I'd love to experience it more in my life! In college, I once again assumed the role of student and absorbed everything that I could. Now that I am graduate, I am very ready to share that with those who would have it. Read More

I love sharing my knowledge of trumpet and music with students as well as inspiring creativity and the desire to learn. I believe it is mostly up to the student to teach themselves, I simply show them how to do this in the most efficient way. There are countless method books to choose from and most of them leave out the most important details of how to actually practice and get results. Read More

My experience in teaching is very wide and involves many different things. I have been teaching for 8 years private trombone lessons, but in the past year I have learned the trumpet as a part of an internship I was a part of and learned to teach trumpet to beginning students as well. I also am very capable of teaching the other low brass instruments such as the euphonium and the tuba. Read More

As a Jazz Studies major at Cal State Northridge (CSUN), I placed in the college's Jazz "A" Band, which won 1st Place in its division at the Next Generation Monterery Jazz Festival. During my time at CSUN, I also began to write and record music for jazz big band. After finishing my undergraduate studies, I began playing my own songs and compositions at live music venues and was often hired to play on live television series. Read More
