Of course, everything depends on what you, the student, want to learn! For younger students that are just starting, I've found the Accent on Achievement books to be very helpful in developing the basics of playing. From there, Classically-focused players would learn solo repertoire, Jazz-focused players would learn standards and improvisation, and all the other genres would begin to narrow down their appropriate fields. Adults are certainly welcome as well and I'd love to help them learn whatever they are interested in. Read More

For beginners I like to start with Essential Elements 2000, although this book isn't specifically written with trumpet in mind, I do I want to get students making music as soon as possible and EE 2000 is a great start. As students advance I use some of the standard trumpet method books such as - Clarke Technical Studies, Arbans Complete Method for Trumpet, I also write out exercises that can't be found in books but feel will help the student progress. Though there are many different ways to teach, I will gravitate more towards my preferred learning style which is through discovery and analysis. I enjoy finding different ways to tackle one specific task and I enjoy taking part in that journey with my students. Those moments when their eyes light up when they realize a whole new dimension of possibilities just opened up for them because they found a new piece to the puzzle. Read More

I bring a wealth of teaching experience to my students, including teaching students of different ages at many different levels. I have taught private students at the beginning, intermediate, and college level as well as coached brass students at several middle schools and high schools throughout southern California, and I currently maintain a private teaching studio. In addition to private one-on-one lessons, I am also experienced in conducting group lessons and sectionals where students can explore the joy of playing with other students at their level. Read More
