From the first lesson, the most important aspect of teaching is ensuring that the student is attaining the goals he/she is most excited about. If the student is enthusiastic and driven, the rest falls into place naturally. That's the way it's been for the students I've taught, and the way it began for myself. I make sure to celebrate the student's accomplishments and victories, but also address any points or facets of their performance that they could improve upon. Read More

During my internship with Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center and volunteer work with The Cavalier Music Enrichment Program (both based in Baltimore, Maryland), I have taught music to over 250 students. From general music theory to specific instruction in brass, woodwind, and percussion techniques; I have had the privilege to work with students of various ages, spanning from sixth graders to college students. While interning and volunteering I developed a great appreciation for teaching and a strong dedication to student progression. Read More

I'm still playing and composing in Maryland, and am working with D.C's top wedding /show band 'Amaretto' (Washinton's Best Musicians agency, David Fletcher). Having returned from being back in Canada the past 3 years composing and producing music, I'm excited to be back here and to be helping create music in the community I live in. I believe that this is an important time, in that we experienced musicians must contribute to the communities in which we live in order to maintain a vibrant culture of the arts in all it's forms. I also give my younger students a practice log so they can track how much they practice. I like to treat it like a game. That way they look forward to practicing and can gain an appreciation for the trumpet. I also want the student to look forward to lessons with me. Not for my own personal sake, but I want the student to enjoy taking lessons. If they don’t enjoy lessons, they aren’t going to want to play. Read More

My teaching style is a combination of what I have learned from others and what has worked for me! I find that my style at times can be demanding, but I am always fair to all my students. I want you to experience music and your own pace as that is how you best succeed! I am a big believer in fundamentals including scales, long tones, working with a metronome and tuner, etc. Read More
