I'm a professional saxophone player based in Los Angeles. At the age of 10, I started playing saxophone because my parents were asking me if I was interested in music. I started my first saxophone quartet at the age of 12. I was accepted by Shanghai Conservatory of Music's Contemporary Music department in 2012 under the instruction of the jazz saxophone professor Xiaolu Zhang. As such, my approach for a less serious student will be different from my approach for a more serious student. I would travel around the Imperial Valley County and teach kids who were in elementary school and junior high the basics of the saxophone and help them with any difficulties in the music that they were playing. I began teaching guitar lessons back in 2008 and have been doing so for almost 10 years. After my bachelors I was then hired by the Community Arts Partnership through CalArts and have been teaching/facilitating workshops throughout Los Angeles teaching West African drumming, singing and dance. I have taught all ages from kindergarten to adults.
