I'm a professional jazz saxophonist and composer who has lived in New York and performed around the world for 15 years. I began playing sax when I was 9 years old and quickly developed an interest in jazz. I started playing my first gigs at around 14 and decided to devote my life to the saxophone and music. I received a Bachelor of Music from NYU in jazz saxophone performance. I like to encourage solo performance for friends and family early on to achieve performance experience and mitigate nervousness. These performances include recital halls, banquet halls, school auditoriums, night clubs, bars, restaurants, weddings, parties, church ceremonies, community theater and parades. I encourage my students to practice like I practice and to perform as often as they can. There I taught in the College Preparatory Summer Program, and led classes in Theory, Rythym, Improvisation and Sight Reading. I also taught 4th and 5th grade saxophone classes at P.S. 290 in New York City through the Manhattan School of Music outreach program. I currently teach at a Charter School in Newark, NJ. I have taught private saxophone and trumpet lessons since I was in high school. Practicing on a regular schedule is the best way for young students to improve, as well as older students to continue to perfect their technique. My goal is for students to have fun while they learn and while they practice. A lot of times, students are not encouraged to practice because it seems too difficult. Read More
