I have extensive experience as a private teacher (25+ years). I teach cello, violin/viola, and piano and have taught students ages 5-65. I also have prepared students for specialized middle school and high school auditions, pre-college programs, and other auditions. In addition to private teaching, currently, I teach group string classes in Harmony Program NYC. Since I play the piano I'm often the accompanist for my students' recitals. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I began teaching in 2011 and have been consistently teaching since then. I began teaching in Cleveland, and eventually grew my studio to 60 students. This was a lot to handle, but I loved every second of it. Seeing and being a part of a student's progress is one of the most rewarding things I have experienced in my life. I like to make sure the student is having fun as well as staying focused on progress. Read More

As an educator, my role is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for students to learn and grow. It is important for learning to take place in such an environment so that students are not only free to be themselves, but free to make mistakes. This way, mistakes happen in a safe, forgiving environment where students can learn from them before they have to learn those lessons in the real world. Read More

For very young beginning students, I usually start with Shirley Givens' Adventures in Violinland. After some time, I like to switch to the Suzuki books to encourage training their ears. Each student is very different, and I cater and switch method books based on each student's individual need. For all ages, I encourage them to listen to violinists they enjoy on YouTube, and choose pieces they want to learn. Even if what they choose is a challenge, I believe they will be more inspired to work hard to learn the piece if they chose it. Read More

I am a piano instructor who is always passionate and excited about teaching the art of playing the piano. Since 2007 till now, I always love to monitor the little weekly progress of my students turn into a huge development in their musicianship. I grew up playing Bach, Beethoven, and a variety of classical composer. In my teens I started learning all the pop songs, and playing with a variety of cover bands, and church choirs in Egypt. I set up each lesson of what and how to practice at home. So whatever we do in the lesson, is what you are to do in your personal practice, making it super easy! I suggest each students sits with the instrument at least 3 days a week, not including lesson day. I give you fun and easy warm ups to explore how to use the instrument. Then we work on fun pieces to explore the many beautiful sounds of your instrument and your voice as musician. Read More

I do not use a heavy handed method of teaching or discipline, though I do impart the importance of practice, diligence, attention to detail, and creativity. At times I incorporate methods, such as the Suzuki method for violin, or Mel Bay for guitar. I love to get students to be creative, so encourage them to write their own music, and spend time working on expressive interpetations of other's music. I also encourage them to play with others, as it is one of the best ways to practice and learn. Read More
