For beginning students, I teach the Rubank Method. For intermediate and advanced students, I teach the Frost School Jazz Method. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I create engaging lesson plans based on my students interests, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons fulfilling and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

Hello All! I am a woodwind instructor, specifically clarinet and alto saxophone, with over 15 years of musical experience. I began my interest in music through band in school, and my love for it grew as I developed as a musician. I then began transposing music, composing music, and began to learn the keyboard as well. I have studied musical history, performed in group and individual settings, and am currently developing unique musical concepts to make the learning experience for my students as enjoyable as possible. I work with Rubank or any method books provided by their band instructor. There will be supplemental materials, especially for more advanced students, that are instrument specific such as etudes and technical exercises. We will continue focusing on band literature, contemporary, classical, or solo literature depending on the goals of the students and their interests. While there are some general methods, it is best to meet the student where their needs are and tailor the specific methods to those needs. Read More

I started teaching in 2009 in Mississippi. I taught 6th grade band (beginner), 7th grade band, and high school. I taught in Mississippi for 5 years and just recently moved to Tennessee. While teaching, I've given private lessons to some of my students after school and to some students who did not attend my school. I always encourage doing a recital, entering competitions, and continuing on to college playing their instrument. I love motivating students and challenging them to be the best and nothing less. No matter the age of the student, I believe in project-based learning: I help my them write songs, make arrangements, record albums, and prepare for recitals. They will develop a respect for the craft of making music, the more creatively involved they are. A list of a couple highly recommended instruction books is given to each student on their first day. This is to help them grasp the basic language of their instrument. Read More
