Hello! I am a professional guitarist who loves to teach my methods and "tricks of the trade" to anyone interested. My passion for music started when I was very young, and great teachers along the way have given me all the tools I need to pursue my dreams. I have been performing regularly since I was 14 years old and graduated from Belmont University with a degree in commercial guitar. I love to bring an enthusiastic and intelligent performance to every show and hope to share it with all of my students. Read More

Expression at the Speed of Thought Since beginning his teaching career in 1974 David has taught thousands of people how to play guitar! Some aspiring only to play at home for fun and others to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. David Fisher has also taught advanced guitar and music theory to several professional musicians who already play other instruments fluently including Oscar nominee Scott Rogness, who co-wrote and performed the songs featured in the movie That Thing You Do. At the beginning of my experience with each student, I assess what the goals are for each student/their family, in the musical learning process. I base my teaching on that, within the framework of standard music teaching practices. Throughout the process of the student's learning, I periodically assess, not only the student's progress, but also the student's satisfaction with their learning process. As the need arises, I will make modifications or changes to the teaching, which better suit the student. Read More

I'm a performer/composer who comes from a line of professional arts educators. Both my parents and one of my grandmothers are lifelong teachers in musical theater and modern dance respectively. I've learned a huge amount from them not only about my art form but about the skills required to be a good teacher, regardless of topic. Teaching is truly its own set of skills separate from the topic that someone is teaching, and treating this job as such is the difference between someone simply demonstrating skills and actually being a thoughtful teacher. My love for playing and learning about music began as a 5th Grader Trumpeter in the School Band. I transitioned to singing in Choirs and Musicals in High School and performed as a Church Cantor. I went on to study Vocal Performance at Vanderbilt University, where I discovered the joy of Songwriting on the Piano and Guitar. After college, I continued performing and teaching with The University of Alabama Opera Theatre. Read More

For all students I start with the basic fundamentals. For younger students I try to find out where they are in their music classes at school and incorporate as much of that curriculum into my instruction as possible. For older or more advanced students I find out what type of music they are interested in learning and gear my instruction towards their interests. I have several instructional books series that I work from, including Hal Leonard, Mel Bay and my own packet/study guides that I have put together that I present to my students as they progress. I began teaching my Senior year of high school. For 15 years, I ran a private teaching studio working with students of all ages and skill levels. Some of my students have gone on to study music in college, including students at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. One of my former students also went on to sign a major recording contract. I strive to create an inspiring, fun atmosphere for learning - emphasizing regular practice with the primary goal of building confidence through learning music. Read More
