I am a piano teacher with 17 years of teaching experience and a lifelong love of music and people. I work with students of all ages, from as young as 3 years old through adults and seniors, including students in their 70s. I previously performed and played in church settings and have always enjoyed sharing music in ways that bring people together. Young children get excited about games and movements easily, thus, I will include a lot of music interactive activities and games in my lesson to motivate their music learning. Furthermore, I believe that teaching must match to the students learning style, not learning match to the teachers teaching style. Therefore, teaching style, curriculum, and approach should be flexible, varied, and individual. In 1994, I graduated from Asbury University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance. In 1995, I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. I am a pianist, composer, and pre-service Music Educator from Flint, MI. I have played piano and trumpet for 11 years, and am currently in my senior year of getting my BME from The University of Michigan-Flint. Piano, composition, and teaching are my passions, and I have performed extensively throughout the mid-Michigan area, including on the Whiting stage, as a live musician for Michigan Radio's Stateside, as well as conducting several of my own compositions with various ensembles at the Flint School of Performing Arts.
