Overview:
I am a passionate and forward thinking instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love for music. I have a Bachelor Degree in Choir Conducting. In 2016, I graduated from the University of Arts of Havana, Cuba with a Major degree in Classical Music Composition. My main training is in vocal and choral music. I have had the opportunity to perform as a singer and a choir conductor in different countries, including Spain, Mexico, Canada, Germany and United States of America. Performing all over the world has been one the greater experiences of my life as a musician.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 4 years ago, and have been consistently teaching to students of all different ages. The beautiful thing about teaching is the uniqueness of the process regarding every student. Every student is a different and unique artistic being, therefore, the perception of music is also unique. I love to nourish that uniqueness, incentivizing the student's natural abilities. I make sure that in every class, the student not just learns the technique, but also learns the history behind it.
METHODS USED
For children, I do not use books or complicate bibliography to teach. I encourage children to discover music through their own curiosity. Using historical imagery and references of the natural world that surrounds us, is very effective way to help children understand music. Art contains emotion and intellect, so, my intention is that the kids explore that knowledge in a fun and joyful way. For adults, the teaching process is more focus to expand their abilities. I do focus on improve technique. Also, the development of routines of exercises to maximize their vocal potentials with the input of Music Theory and Music History. In the case of Piano, I use specific methods that include the interpretation of several musical styles using basic piano techniques like portato and legato, for example.
LESSON STYLE
My teaching style is focus to develop my student's own artistic personality. I always remind my students the importance of growing as a musician using your unique perception of music. That is what makes every student special. In addition, I combine, not just different music styles, but also, different types of art. The understanding of the relationship of music with another arts and history is as important to me as the technique itself. I engage the student minds in the learning process using references and analogies from different artwork.

I admit that I do not have much experience with voice teachers, but I do think that Ernesto is a very good one. I say this because he is not rigid in his methods and listens to me when I express that I do not understand something or that I want to practice a scale repeatedly just to get the hang of it. He tries different exercises based on what my response is, and improvises to help me to learn more about using my voice well. He has a sense of what is best overall, and considers breath, tone, volume, and expressivity when giving a person feedback. He is classically trained, yet is open to teaching different styles of singing (like jazz, pop, blues, and broadway). Since he comes to where I live, he brought a keyboard the first time, but since then he uses his own voice as the benchmark. He will bring one when specific songs will be practiced I am pretty sure. He has a flexible schedule as well and that is a nice perk.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
