I use a variety of methods, custom-fit for each student individually. I teach Classical and church piano, along with sightreading, ear training, performance techniques, music theory, and other techniques specially designed to give my students the most well-rounded learning experience possible. I tend to prefer Piano Adventures for younger students and teens, and incorporate use of the corresponding app whenever possible. I also focus on helping students learn to play by ear, since I believe this is the quickest way to feel a mastery over the instrument! Read More

I love teaching students music. I have grown up around music my whole life. I grew up in Alabama and started taking piano lessons when I was 5 years old. I had amazing teachers and learned so much from them. I am actively involved in not only my students music abilities but my own as well, I never stop learning! Read More

At the beginning of our time, I like to set goals with my students. As we progress, we revisit these goals to make sure were on track and to see if any of the goals have changed. Students should always learn at their own pace, not mine, so I dont like to be too strict with these goals and progressions. Its all about having fun and learning a new skill! Read More

While Alfred's method also teaches position playing, it also dives into intervallic reading. Many true, albeit arranged, baroque, romantic, and classical piano pieces are featured without a lot of fluff and fanfare. This may be an ideal method for most of students. The Alfred method is featured in a variety of books, including an all-in-one piano course for children, a prep course, and a basic piano library, completely correlated and presented in progressive levels. I like to take time with each of my students and discover the way that they learn. One of my strengths is being able to come up with new ways to explain a particular thing. I'm always thinking of new ways to get through to each student and I don't give up on them. I always try to provide a comfortable space for my students to learn in a stress free way. Read More

I started teaching in high school and fell in love with it. After college I moved around a bit and spent time developing playing by ear. Now I am settled and loving teaching! I really strive to develop a fun relationship with my students (especially the younger ones) because nobody is going to practice if they aren't having a good time at the lesson! Lessons with me are stress free and full of laughs and scales. Read More

I have a somewhat fast paced, exciting music teaching style but am cognizent and respectful of the need for each student to progress at his or her individual pace. I like to engage the student fully in the process of learning, and as there are several different learning modalities, I feel it important to establish which style the student most identifies with. In this manner, each student will have the opportunity to attain the best musical outcomes and allow for optimal enjoyment of playing the instrument. Read More
