I was brought up learning the Suzuki Method of Piano. This method has its benefits, but I also utilize other methods such as Faber's Piano Adventures or Clark's The Music Tree. Developing a good ear is essential when trying to express yourself musically. Piano technique is also essential when trying to execute what you want at the right moment. I have three different sets of books for new students that are children; so if you have more than one starting lessons, you can hear different songs. I typically use Piano Adventures, Bastien, or Alfred, although Piano Adventures is my favorite. I suggest the lesson book, theory book and technique books be usedsimultaneously to give the student the most well-rounded lesson. For adults or even teenagers, I like to learn about what interests them musically and work towards that style or song. Read More
