As the student becomes more accomplished, I supplement with method books and solo literature from the repertoire of the individual instrument. With beginning children in clarinet, we will start with the book they are currently using in band (typically essential elements or tradition of excellence). Once the basics have been grasped, we move on to method books with the choice of Rose or Rubank (depending on the student's skill level). Scales and arpeggios are also practiced every day and seen as a prerequisite to every practice session.
