I teach Classical and church piano, along with sightreading, ear training, performance techniques, music theory, and other techniques specially designed to give my students the most well-rounded learning experience possible. I tend to prefer Piano Adventures for younger students and teens, and incorporate use of the corresponding app whenever possible. I think my approach to teaching piano is highly individualized. What motivates one student will not necessarily motivate another. Brief example: I currently have a student who likes to give me really "hard" high-fives after he has accomplished something. While he is adorable and he will work really hard to give me that high-five; this wouldn't work on many other students. Makeing music from the very beginning is the key ! Even the simple one line practice exercizes i back up with a harmonic chordal accompaniment for a satisfying duet.
