Music and teaching it to others has been my life's work and passion. I am classically trained (obviously) and I am the first and still only person in my family to graduate from a four year college and later graduate school, having earned BM and MM degrees in Piano Performance with a minor in organ at Shenandoah University. In addition to 27 years of music ministry, 26 years as an accompanist and/or MD (classical and music theatre settings) and of course 16 years of private piano teaching, my greatest professional accomplishment is having played at Carnegie Hall in June 2014. I am the best when the student has accomplished and satisfied the lesson's requirements. We can expound on the de tails but if they are not prepared, we will review the previous lesson so they don't miss the value of that lesson. My teaching style can best be described in a sentence: New concepts, new fingering, new harmony, new rhythm, new literature when first you find the letters from Piano Music then unscrambled these single letters until you can spell PIANO MUSIC which is a gift for all ages. I use multiples methods. One of them is the Susuki method. I consider that is a good method for beginners with a lot of techniques exercises and also includes pieces. For me it is essential that a student learn first all the techniques exercises and then start to create music. After that I started to teach how to respect the essential aspects in a piece: the fingering, the bowing, the dynamics, the tempo and others. Read More

My teaching style is based on 3 of my core beliefs. (1) The student is the most important person in the class ( This is why I do not force a particular method on every student. I adapt to each student's learning style). (2) Music should be fun ( This is why I chose music that the student can relate to ) (3) Every task can be easy or difficult. Every single task has a pattern that, if you know it, makes the task very easy. ( This is why I reveal these patterns to my students and these patterns make them learn easily, naturally and rapidly)(Most of my beginner students learn to play a complete song with both hands in their very first lesson------Why?------PATTERNS ).
