I like to select a basic book on fundamentals supplemented with blues, popular, or jazz or seasonal music to Motivate the student. There will be some attention to scales and how chords are built along with other theory as it applies to the pieces they are studying. Some attention is required due to the cycle of fifths and why some keys are selected more than others. I expect the student to review our lesson no less that 4 times a week and not all at once just before the next lesson. Read More

At the very beginning level I would start with fundamentals from whatever book I feel would be best for the student depending on their age and knowledge. Beforehand I definitely will need to asses their knowledge so I can do so accordingly. I however will now focus on solely fundamentals and will try to include in songs that the student would like to learn as long as it is in the bounds of reality, the lessons I provide are only part of the equation and the real work is what is put in after the lesson. Over the past 30 years I have stayed true to this concept in all things musical ( including teaching ). I have performed at many different venues all over the world ( fom hotels to cruiseships,to concert halls.). I have also taught many students around the world. Not every audience likes the same type of music so the performer has to be versatile. Similarly, not every student likes the same kind of music so the teacher should be able to adapt. Read More

I had been teaching piano since high school, after which I chose to study music at a conservatory. I have been teaching consistently since my graduation and have had varied experiences. I have taught students from four years to adulthood, at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. I always aim to bring out the best in every student. It is always very important to me, to listen to the student and observe their learning styles, in the initial classes. Read More

Music is a big part of everything that I do. I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1992. I have performed in ensembles, for weddings and special events, and provided accompaniment services to other musicians. I enjoy the complexity and challenges of classical music the most, but I also enjoy the experiences of playing music that makes me feel good. Whether it's music for church, school, accompanying for soloists in competitions or just making music for fun, I love what I do! Read More
