There can be as much art as to crafting the right sound coming out of your amp, as the craft of originating the notes on your fret board. I can also teach in the area of MIDI guitar. MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Information. This is an industry standard that allows for synth guitars and keyboards to communicate with each other and work together. My method begins by talking with beginning students to learn their likes and desires, so we can build a beneficial teaching plan together. I teach to the student, not to me. The results lead to a happier, more positive and dedicated student. I also teach in bite sized pieces, usually using the style of music, or even a favorite song the students like. Once a student has a small success, they will seek another. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I truly believe in giving my students the freedom to select the songs and/or genres they like and that's because I believe passion is an integral aspect of learning. Read More

Books I use for teaching Piano is the Piano Adventures series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, which is a great lesson book and a good basic piano method for beginners through intermediate level students. For guitar I use the Hal Leonard Incredible Chord Finder and the Warren Nunes Jazz guitar Rhythm and Background Chords and the Solo Patterns book. Also For both Piano and Guitar I have accumulated many charts and Berklee School of Music pages to use as students start to progress. Read More

As I previously mentioned above,I show each student as much as they can pick up.I can show a student just about anything they want to learn, but its really about how much they practice at home that determines their ability. If the student practices a lot we move much quicker and it becomes more fun and challenging.Music is endless and you can never stop learning.they are proving more and more every day how music affects your brain. When you just listen to music, you use every part of your brain.Few things do that. When you play music you are using even more of your brain.
