Instruments: Piano Voice Music
I find it crucial to make sure the foundation of the voice is there before moving onto solo repertoire. By doing so, we can ensure the singing is always safe, healthy, and beautiful. In addition to teaching a healthy vocal technique, I strive to maintain a positive and uplifting environment for my students. I believe technique is important to become a successful singer, but feeling relaxed and comfortable while learning is just as important. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I tend to emphasize theory as well as playing when Im teaching my students because learning music is more effective when supported by theory. Learning a musical indtrument requires a high level of concentration to learn and understand the music, and to memorize and perform it, so it can be helpful for students with other learnings or activities. Moreover the process of completing a piece is more difficult and time consuming than we think, but through this kind of practice, kids can develop their patience and discipline. Read More

When I finish teaching a lesson, I often feel like I've either learned something new or have been reminded of something fundamental about music. For example, it's very good for the health of my own piano technique to be able to explain basic piano technique to someone else. Instruments: Piano Voice Trumpet Acoustic Guitar
I prefer to do half-hour lessons for beginners and young musicians. After more lessons can be prepared, forty-five minute or hour long lessons are more appropriate. For trumpet students, I rely heavily on the Arban method for the essentials and then add other materials depending on the student's goals. For voice students, I begin with a vocal exercise book and a collection of songs to learn. For all my students, I encourage you to bring in your own materials to work on as well. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Ukulele
It's important to me that students are invested in their own lessons, and what this means will differ from student to student. For some five year olds, that may be simply participating in the whole lesson and practicing a few minutes per week. For others, it may mean being challenged with advanced materials. Each student will receive a unique repertoire and lesson based on ability and interests. I focus on technique, then repertoire, then theory, then review for a 30 minute lesson, and younger students will often get a fun music-based game at the end if the lesson has been fruitful. Instruments: Piano Violin Viola
I began piano when I was 3 and violin when I was 9. Music is at the very core of my Soul. People say that I am a born teacher. My info. under Education above should give you a snapshot of my background. I did not list my piano education because I was originally a violin/viola major in college. However I am equally skilled on all 3 instruments. For e.g. the Brahms 2nd piano concerto is in my repertoire. Read More
