When I meet new students, I start by figuring out where they are on their journey, and I meet them there. I approach each lesson uniquely, because we are all different and learn in different ways. I teach with a combination of Lesson and Theory books, usually Alfred's Basic, and we will focus on healthy playing technique. I understand that Lesson and Theory books are not always the most interesting, and I supplement materials by teaching chords so students can learn pop songs of their choosing as well. Read More

I'm a recent transplant to Brooklyn, NY after spending seven wonderful years studying and working in Boston! Originally from Gainesville, Florida, I first learned piano, then added saxophone, clarinet, flute, and bass in my middle and high school years. In order to keep my students motivated, I balance tasks that each student finds easy and enjoyable with tasks that are more challenging. My students know that if they say something is too hard, I will ask them to try it again another way, using their strategies to problem solve.
