Every student has a different learning style and learns at their own pace. I myself am a tactile kinesthetic learner and tend to teach this way. For example, I enjoy using colored pencils to highlight articulation and dynamics. If a student is younger, I use stickers to help students keep track of where they are in the piece. I tailor my instruction to what each of my students needs and want to learn. Read More

Everyone has the capacity to be a musician...therefore, I teach students of all ages and include all cultures (all styles and musical genres). No one is a 'beginner' when it comes to recognizing great music, so I strive to create musicians who can reach their own goals...thus, building independence is the key: My job is done when my students can do what I do without needing me! For more experienced students, I assess your present skills upon our first lesson via a variety of repertoire so as to 'diagnose' what areas you need improvement on musically speaking. Read More

I believe that every student has the potential to succeed. It is my goal as an instructor to guide the student toward their vision of success, whether it be personal, professional, or some mixture of both. Every student should be challenged, but nobody should ever feel as if music is some form of art that is lost on them. I seek to set standards and expectations high to learn alongside the student and to grow, both as people and as musicians, until the point at which they have exhausted my knowledge so that they may one day reminisce with pride and accomplishment on the path that I have set them upon. My thirty years piano teaching experience began in Eagle Pass , Texas when my own piano teacher encouraged me to begin teaching my own students. I actually began my teaching experience by helping out my piano teacher's students' with their piano practice. By that time I had performed in piano recitals , played in the National Guild of Piano Teacher Auditions, and attended piano workshops with my piano teacher. My parents' and my piano teacher's encouragement was what gave me the confidence and motivation to pursue my education in music studies. Read More

I find commonalities in their likes and relate to what we are learning. I always want my lessons to be positive and productive. In order to insure success, I like to give my students music that they are excited about! I find this is the best way for the student to WANT to practice and get better. I love what I do and it gives me so much joy and fulfillment to see a student succeed and love music as much as I do! Read More

I like to pull ideas from different schools of thought. I would much rather paint a canvas with many colors than just a few. Some schools you may be familiar with are Suzuki, Czerny, Galamian, Flesch, Hanon, Mayron Cole, and many others. I tailor my lessons to fit the current needs of every student. This may be the use of one main school or a mixture of all depending on the technical and artistic needs of the student. Read More

I started teaching piano and voice lessons quite recently within the last year. I have had the rewarding experience of watching these young people learn and grow and discover more of their self confidence in performance as well as in life. I think a key point for any teacher is to be patient. The more relaxed you are the more at ease your students will be. It is important to be patient with yourself as the teacher in addition to being very patient with the student. Read More
