During my years in Poland I was acclaimed for my exceptional way of interpreting the romantic composers and specially the music of Frederic Chopin. I performed concerts throughout Poland and Germany, most importantly at the Chopin’s Birth Place in Zelazowa Wola, under Chopin’s Monument in Wlazieki Park, The Ostrogski Palace and The Grand Theater in Warsaw. I approach teaching on an individual basis, meaning it's important to me to know the goals, hopes, passions, and if applicable, the worries or insecurities the student is feeling. In a first lesson I identify something that is special and unique about each student, and build their technique from this place. I find this helps the difficult areas feel a little less challenging because they already have something they feel proud of when working through the discomfort of something new or intimidating. My teaching experience began when I was in college. I began teaching flute, clarinet, and saxophone lessons out of a music store in Upstate New York in 2016. This time was largely spent with complete beginners on their instruments, and it was incredibly rewarding. I focused on a balance of fundamentals like scales and long tones, formal repertoire such as classical and jazz pieces, and time for whatever the student was interested in whether that be pop, hip hop, or rock music. Effective music education is both developmentally and culturally appropriate: By working with the student to understand their interests, I hope to provide them with an experience that will enrich their musical and social life outside of the work we do together. Through infancy, I believe Music Learning Theory is effective for developing musical and linguistic skills. If a student in toddlerhood/childhood shows that they have a preferred way to express themselves musically, I will tailor lessons around the Kodaly (voice), Orff (instrumental), or Dalcroze (dance) philosophies. Sharing music with my students is my greatest passion. I have been playing music since I was nine years old. Music has provided me with many valuable lessons and opportunities of which I instill on my students. I am a Trombonist, Guitarist, Composer and Arranger with a BFA in Jazz Performance from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. Some of my experiences as a professional musician include touring Europe with the JMI World Orchestra in 2017, performing at Carnegie Hall, The Apollo Theater, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola and many other venues through New York City, as well as many years of teaching, both privately and in groups.
