I teach classical music exclusively. My strategy for utterly inexperienced students is to remove from the equation the difficulty of reading a music score, and just allow the hands to "learn" the keyboard by having the student repeating short musical sentences (either preexisting or improvised by me on the spot). Once familiarity with the keyboard has been achieved, or if the student already reads music, we move on to his or her first book, and I tend to favor Nancy and Randall Faber's Piano Adventures. As a lifelong musician, singer and actress, I can unequivocally say that a passion for communication and the fostering of creative expression is what drives my work. Ihave experience in classical, opera, musical theater, jazz, folk music and more. In my work as a private teacher, I have trained singers of virtually every genre. I have found that the principles of good vocal technique can be applied to any style of singing. Read More

I typically start with the Piano Adventures series with my beginner students who are children. I also introduce songs they are familiar with alongside seasonal or festival music to make the lessons more engaging and boost their interest in learning. For intermediate students, I add materials such as exercises from Hanon or Czerny to develop stronger technique. I pair these with music by various composers so that, while building the foundation of piano playing, my students explore different styles of music. Read More

My methods of choice for instruction are many due to the amount of instruments that I teach and the many levels of mastery within each concentration. For most woodwinds I begin with the Rubank family of methods and duet books. I favor many of the Berklee press books for music theory, voice, keyboards, genre studies, guitar, bass, composition, ear training, harmony and arranging. The Schirmer library of classical piano pieces is often used. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days. I have provided in-home private piano and violin lessons to students (age 5-22), where I was able to work with students or students' parents and develop the curriculum according to students progress and level. I want my students to enjoy what they learn, and I encourage daily practice and correct practicing methods to achieve maximum progress. The performing technique is critical for beginners to lay down the concrete foundation while performing beautiful tunes. Read More
