Instruments: Piano

I am a musician, an educator, and a lifelong learner who enjoys developing students' potential and watching them succeed at every musical challenge. I graduated from Bob Jones University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, and went on to receive a Master of Music degree in Music History from the University of Hartford's prestigious Hartt School, graduating in 2015. Since my childhood, I have had the opportunity of participating in church music ministries, and now serve as congregational pianist and choir accompanist at Knotty Oak Baptist Church in Coventry, Rhode Island. Instruments: Piano Guitar

I teach beginner piano, and also guitar, all ages and levels. My approach is for you to experience playing music as something enjoyable, something you like, and that you look forward to learning more about. Teaching and learning music is fun for me so I try to balance the fun with learning the basics! For young students my approach is about patience, positive reinforcement, moving at the right pace, staying upbeat and focused through a lesson, and reinforcing the key parts. Read More

Instruments: Piano Guitar Cello Bass Guitar

Depending on the level of the student and what they are looking to achieve through the lessons I would use a few different methods. I like to use guitar books if at all possible for beginners because its a great place to start. The fundamentals are where you have to start to build a scaffolding and practice books are great for doing this. I also like to use songs and tunes as a way of teaching different concepts. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice

For beginning piano students I use a combination of Piano Adventures curriculum and Suzuki piano method. I like using Piano Adventures because it is a seamless and easy way to learn how to sightread. Suzuki is used to enhance performance skills and learn traditional repertoire. I supplement with other sheet music on the side and teach scales and technical work additionally. For beginning voice students the majority of initial lessons are spent on technique and students are encouraged to apply it in whatever repertoire they enjoy with occasional assigned peices. Instruments: Piano Voice Music Keyboard

My teaching style is nurturing and supportive. Music is an emotional art, regardless of the instrument you are performing. I like to encourage my students to think about the music they are playing and to think about the music they hear every single day out in the world. I like my students to be musically adventurous and open to new ideas and new styles. I love when my students ask questions and begin to understand the why and how of the way music, and their instrument, works. Read More

Instruments: Piano Trumpet Trombone Euphonium French Horn Tuba

For students beginning on any brass instrument, the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements is the go to for most music educators. I also try to find solo repertoire for students based on their age and level of experience. Performing as a soloist is just as important as being in an ensemble. The Rochut Legato Studies for trombone and Blahzevich Clef studies are also great tools for more advanced students. As for piano students, I try to determine what that student's musical interests are and tailor instruction to their particular level. Read More
