Building a repertoire is encouraged, and I use the material to assist in instructing in theory and musical communication. For children I tend to start with posture, positioning of the hands, rounded fingers and finger notation. I understand that Molineux's teaching methods are of the 19th centurybut they are still relevant today in how we perceive music.
