For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I adapt each lesson for the individual, their interests and their needs. I had worked with a public primary school’s students and had some experience to work with 6 classes (each contains 60 students) before I earned a Bachelor's Degree during required practical training. Through explaining music knowledge to children from 6-year-olds to 12-year-olds I learned to communicate with people with patient explanations and the deep understanding of people’s situations. It's really important to me that students enjoy what they are doing in music. It is a skill that has endless possibilities for creativity, expressing emotions, and connecting with others. This is what I want my students to learn and to bring with it a passion for music they can have for the rest of their lives. Music completed changed my life and I want to give that experience back to my students along with developing life long skills that can transfer to other areas of life such as responsibility, perseverance, and problem solving.
