I hope to emulate some of my great teachers including Robert Hurst, Cecil McBee, John Lockwood and others. Of course regular practice is necessary, but listening is also key to advancement. Besides regular warmups and technical workouts, I encourage every student to transcribe, sing and play along with music they like. My teaching experience stems back to high school. When I was 14 I was recognized for my talent to help members of the Jr high and beginner band classes. Then when I was attending Miami University, I started my own studio of three high school trombone students; I did that for 2 years. I'm very friendly and patient. Learning music should be enjoyable, and never a burden. My students learn at their own pace and have fun doing it. I'm happy to work with youngters, providing they have a basic grasp of letters and numbers.
