Instruments: Piano Accordion Music Keyboard

I'm a pianist, accordionist, arranger, and composer. I find a lot of joy in learning and understanding music. The styles I specialize in on piano are ragtime and early jazz, and Latin and French music on the accordion. Although this is my specialty, it certainly isn't the limits of what I am able to teach. I perform as the accordionist for a Manouche Jazz band named Heliotrope Swing, we play around Boston and really thrive on the joy that people find in our music. Read More

Playing guitar is supposed to be fun and enjoyable, not daunting and stressful. My teaching method has proven to be fun and effective for children and adults alike. I will teach you how to play the music you love, and show you how to guide yourself to learn, practice, and write the music you want to play. The choice is yours, we can cover everything from Rock Roll, the Blues, Classical, Metal, Jazz, Bluegrass, Music Theory, basic repairs and more. Read More

Instruments: Piano

I teach classical music exclusively. My strategy for utterly inexperienced students is to remove from the equation the difficulty of reading a music score, and just allow the hands to "learn" the keyboard by having the student repeating short musical sentences (either preexisting or improvised by me on the spot). Once familiarity with the keyboard has been achieved, or if the student already reads music, we move on to his or her first book, and I tend to favor Nancy and Randall Faber's Piano Adventures. In the summer of 2022, he served as an artist fellow in the Atlantic Music Festival, giving varied performances in orchestral, chamber and solo settings. To fuse his dedication to performance with his interest in academic research, Tommy also presented a full lecture recital in the recent conference on cultural assimilation in music hosted by the University of Calgary. Furthermore, an equally devoted performer on the euphonium, he has been invited to play with the New England Brass Band and has been performing with the Boston University Wind Ensemble on an assistantship since 2021. I have 4 years of experience teaching private lessons. I started as a freelance instructor in my home town of Tabernacle NJ. I work at School Of Rock in Medford NJ for two summers, in 2017 and 2018. Teaching is one of my favorite things to do, I love sharing my knowledge with other people. To be able to inspire people, help them find their sound, and most of all bring a smile to their face is what I take pride in. Read More

My path as an educator began during my time studying history and philosphy in New Orleans, LA. I was playing live music almost six nights a week, and started helping out as an assistent at Tipitina's Sunday Workshop for young musicians. There I helped and watched the great Johnny Vidacovich teach young aspiring musicians the art of playing in an ensemble. While at Berklee College of Music I have helped teach in classrooms and clinics alongside many of the world's greatest musicians, including John Patitucci, Steve Bailey, Joanne Brackeen, Vadim Neselovsky, Carol Robbins, and Alain Mallet. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
