I also bring copied music to introduce them to different styles of music to see what they would be interested in and what they need to work on technically and musically. Every student learns differently and progresses at a different rate. In order to keep my students motivated, I balance tasks that each student finds easy and enjoyable with tasks that are more challenging. My students know that if they say something is too hard, I will ask them to try it again another way, using their strategies to problem solve. After many years of maintaining a technology career, I took violin lessons with Michael Snow who introduced me to a life changing "Creating Your Life" course taught by Robert Fritz. I also make it a goal for the student to learn one major classical piece throughout the course of instruction: "Fur Elise" by Beethoven, or "Moonlight Sonata: 1st Movement" by Beethoven.
