A way a student learns is important because everyone learns at a different pace. Also, each student has different interests. Patience and being positive are the key characteristics to progress. Learning can be a frustrating journey if the teacher and student don't meet eye to eye. It is important for me to let students learn songs they want to play and tailor to their interests. My teaching style would be a layman term type with a progressive style. Read More

Whether it's for fun and leisure or a driven passion with serious goals, I can give you the tools to accomplish what you want! I love teaching people through the music that they love. So, whether that's Britney Spears, Metallica, or Bach, the concepts underlying music are basically the same. I will make sure you can play the music you love and hopefully help you explore new music as well. Read More

As I spend time with a student and become familiar with their physical and cognitive strengths and abilities I can shape the lessons to fit their particular requirements and address the problem areas that may require creative solutions and strategies. I believe my strongest asset, as a piano teacher is my ability to convey complex concepts in a very simple and intuitive manner. My academic background further allows me to help my students, young and old, appreciate music and sonic arts. Read More

When anyone first meets me, I think they will notice that I am a very energetic, outgoing, and positive person and teacher which I believe directly translates to my teaching style. I am very patient with my students, but I also push my students to achieve their greatest aspirations--whether that is merely to play a scale or to play a concerto! I am extremely empathetic to a fault and sensitive to each student's individual needs and the pace at which they want to learn. Read More

I love the John Thompson series for young children beginning their study of music. For 3 and 4 year olds, I start out with John Thompson's Easiest Piano Book. We also work on keyboard orientation, understanding and mastery of the musical alphabet, note values, and rhythm. I've found for very young children, drawing notes with crayons, clapping, singing, keep lessons fun and engaging. My 5 and 6 year old students respond well to Thompsons's Teaching Little Fingers to Play. Read More
