I've has taught as the clarinet instructor for the Edwardsville Summer Band Camp in Edwardsville, Illinois and been on the judging panel for clarinet auditions for the St. Louis All-Suburban Honor Band in Missouri. I've also held an administrative internship with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. I believe in the importance and necessity of diversifying one's skillset on and off the clarinet in order to thrive as a musician today. Read More

 As mentioned before, I've been teaching for about 11 years. I've taught at charter schools, leading concert band and jazz band rehearsals at local schools and coaching smaller sections of the ensembles. Educational outreach is a part of my job as a musician in the Air Force. We regularly visit schools and provide clinics and presentations for students. I enjoy teaching one-on-one lessons since it provides the opportunity to engage in the interests of the students and tailor the learning experience to best suit their needs. Read More

I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition from Webster University, 2003, and a Masters in Music History and Literature from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, 2005. For beginning students, I incorporate Mimi Zweig's teaching philosophies as well as those from the Suzuki method. From there we build progressively according to the needs of the individual student. I generally follow the ASTA guidelines for recommended literature and progression. The pieces that students play in the beginning are important because they each teach an essential skill for string playing. Once a student has mastered the fundamentals and made enough progress, they are free to help choose which pieces they would like to work on. Read More

After teaching myself theory at the age of 4, I received my first musical instruction in 6th grade. At that time I learned to play the flute. This is where my musicianship began to blossom and opportunities were sent my way. Thanks to my love and dedication, I was one of a few placed in special bands. Auditioning & being selected for choruses during this time increased as well. As a result of my hard work, I was offered & accepted the positions at section leader and Drum Majorette in my high school's concert and marching bands & after joining choir my junior year I became lead soloist of the choir.
