For beginning students who are children, I typically like to start with rudiments and technique studies. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will introduce the Moeller method. Later will move to the drumset and apply all 3 methods and became to develop what I like to call he groove and bass excises and different warm ups. I am pursuing my Bachelor of Music in Flute at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a student of Randy Bowman, Principal Flute of the Cincinnati Symphony. My personal musical highlights include performances with the CCM Philharmonia, Wind Orchestra, and Chamber Players. You can also find me in the pit orchestras for many theaters in Cincinnati. I like to create very clear imagery that builds over time. The voice is not something we can see or touch, so I often joke that singing is about learning Jedi mind tricks that help us achieve a healthy technique. I like to incorporate theory/musicianship and some piano into my lessons to create a well rounded understanding of singing as a musician. I like to use the music that each student loves, which allows them to learn while still keeping things fun and interesting. Read More

For beginning students, I combine multiple elements to understand the various aspects of their new instruments. With a combination of videos for inspiration, singing for audiation, and moving for connection to the instrument and how our muscles respond to it. My lessons rarely consist of sitting for the entire time. I believe that in the short time we have in lessons, it is more important to expose students to a variety of resources to investigate their new endeavor than it is to repeat repertoire for the sake of a quick result.
