All of my students can expect to participate in the hundred-day practice method, which requires practice each and everyday (even if it is just scales or review). Once they hit one hundred days, they will earn a reward within the studio. Each student will be given their own specific "Violin Diet Plan" where they will be required to practice scales, learn musical terminology, develop right and left hand technique, study etudes, and learn solo repertoire (sonatas, concertos, show pieces, etc.). Each student is different. By monitoring the students' interest, I encourage them to set a goal ofpracticefor the month, and each month that goal time increases little by little. Understanding how to read music and music theory are very important when learning any instrument. Student will be able to play any and all kinds of music if note reading has been taught. Each lesson I set a goal for the following week which is always easy to accomplish with practice. Read More

As previously stated, I love sharing my passion for music and piano with my students! With that being said, watching my students grow as a musician is truly an amazing experience to be apart of! I love to have a good balance with my students of working with technique but also working on something that is fun to play or something of the students pick so that the interest and motivation to play is as high as possible. I love guitar and can talk music for hours on end. My development as a guitarist took me from being an arrogant teen who "knows everything" to an undergraduate music major finding shortcomings in my playing every day, to finding new things to incorporate in my playing beyond the fret-board. I have played in multiple bands in a rock, jazz combo, big band, and classical style I have taught and mentored other musicians for years. Read More

I've found the best way to teach is to cater to each student's interest. While early or beginning players may require some fundamental grunt work, there is always a way to assure that it's fun too. Earlier students would need to start learning the basics: rhythm, learning to read, developing technique through scales etc. of which there are many methods. As students mature, I feel the Suzuki method for aspiring classical students is the best route (there are multiple books in this series) along with some other extensive and more challenging works.
