My teaching experience started when i was 16 years old and i was known as a rock guitar player around the school when all the sudden i had friends of mine approach me asking for lessons, i started teaching beginner lessons since it was an area i could master easily and i also wanted to get in touch with what being a teacher was in the first place. As i grew older and gained more experience on the matter i started teaching for complex and in depth classes that even went beyond guitar like techniques in popular composition and how to orchestrate for different styles of music (Swing, Latin, Baroque, etc) and now im currently in my last year of college studying composition and production in Berklee in order to work as a performer, composer and academic. I design the curriculum according to the student's level and progress, and I highly encourage daily practice even though it could be a challenge. Acknowledging the progress and accomplishments while pointing out the places to improve on will help and motivate students to learn more. For beginner students who are children, I typically start with Suzuki violin book. My goal is try to find the balance between fun and progress. I will give them fun book after they learn the fundamentals. After that, I would like to ask and help them to prepare their first performance. I love both teaching and performing voice and piano to all ages. My greatest passion is getting to share my love and lifelong pursuit of music with my students, no matter their level. When I am not teaching, I am often performing as a soprano soloist with prominent groups in Boston and around the country. In my teaching, I value healthy technique, music literacy (it is a language!), exposing students to diverse repertoire, and ample opportunities for students to play active roles in their creative development in music. Therefore, it is important to let the students progress at their own paces with supervision and slight push. I encourage this by not only setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and making sure we achieve that, but also by adding, from time to time, interesting notes about the history of music or composer's biography to captivate the students' imagination.
