Then I do vocal exercises to find out which voice my student has whether its soprano, mezzo-soprano or altos. Once I know what type of voice my student has, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire from opera, musical theatre or pop. I believe that by, for instance, teaching students how to make good use of their practice time (being productively self-critical) and processing information in an intuitive way, drastically expedites musical development and profoundly affect brain development. I began teaching private lessons at the age of 15 while attending high school in Millbrook. These students spanned from beginner to intermediate levels.
