I love finding the soul of the song and pulling out the passion of the student so that they are engaged and intrigued by whatever we're doing at all times. If the student has no experience with music or the instrument, I will start them off with the very basics, such as: how to properly put together/take apart your instrument, proper care for the instrument, how to form a supportive and correct embouchure. I am comfortable working with any style of singing and I know how to teach the sound that is appropriate for each one. I've always been motivated to understand how the human voice functions and, by extension, how to teach more effectively so in 2017 I became a Certified Mcclosky Voice Technician from the McClosky Institute of Voice after 3 ywEA studying anatomy, physiology, voice disfunction and disease, and a technique that helps the student learn how to sing and speak with complete relaxation and flow. I've loved teaching since I first tried it in high school, when I mentored my own friends in the art of drumming. It's the perfect gig; I get to nerd out every day about the musical things that I'm passionate about with my students! I start most beginning students (and evaluate more advanced ones) on snare drum or practice pad. This is a central instrument to the percussion family and most techniques used on other percussion instruments are based on sound snare drum technique.  I like the Alfred Drum Method book for students just starting out regardless of age as the ability to read and understand written music is important no matter what stylistic path one follows.
