She was a potential student of my own piano teacher, but this teacher chose to assign this girl to me to teach before taking her on. I successfully taught her the basics of piano playing and in 2 years, when we presented our progress to my piano teacher, this girl was able to play 8-10 pieces, after which she was immediately accepted by my teacher. My teaching experience began in 2001, during an after school program. I facilitated a drum circle and taught lessons to kids from ages 8 to 15 years old. This lead to several parents of the students requesting private drum lessons. I teach both classical reading and modern music theory to ensure a well rounded approach. I use the book series by Faber to cover classical reading. I believe Faber books do an excellent job at covering all areas of music. I make sure to keep tabs on my students' practicing as I believe in consistency.
