Overview:
I am a passionate instructor and will do anything to communicate with my students and help them achieve their goals. I firmly believe that education is a privilege, not a job. I feel lucky to be able to do what I love to do as work every day and share this passion with my students. I graduated recently with a BA in Spanish and a Minor in piano; I loved the musical education system so much that I decided to return to pursue a BA in Piano Performance as well, which is currently in progress. I believe that musical education is essential to round a person in all areas of life; cognitively, emotionally, and spiritually. I am also an experienced vocal coach and am very passionate about seeing my students open up to their fullest capacity.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience began 4 years ago when I started studying at Kean University. I travel to my students, giving them the luxury and comfort of being able to take lessons in their own homes. I also teach at my home studio. I teach all ages (4 years old-adults of all ages and beyond 65). I am classically trained but can also teach other desired genres as long as the students provide the sheet music. I also am experienced in teaching blues. I believe in covering all grounds of music; Theory, Reading, Historical, and Emotional aspects. I think it's important to "cross-train" all these areas to achieve a well-rounded and successful musician. I am an active performer , I perform solo piano , solo piano and voice, and am the front voice for a blues band.
METHODS USED
I prefer to work with Faber books. I believe Faber books do an excellent job at covering all perspectives of music. However, if the student or parent has a curriculum preference, I am open-minded to working with that as well. I believe in consistency. The student will be given work that is reasonable to practice once a day for at least 20 minutes a day. The student shouldn't have to spend hours at the piano, as long as they have just 20 minutes of focused practice a day, this is enough to make significant progress. Even professional performers use this method. I prefer to have the student work on 2 pieces at a time, accompanied with a little theory and technique. One piece should be something to challenge their reading, (usually classical), and the other piece something of personal choice which usually tends to be easier to read, so that the student can build an emotional relationship with their music.
LESSON STYLE
As a teacher, I am an excellent communicator. I pay close attention to my students and am able to see their strengths and weaknesses. I go at the pace of my student. I would never push my students past their current level unless I believe they are proficient enough to reach the next level. As a teacher, I work with consistent methods that cater to the student's individual needs. I also will display a passion for the music that inspires my students. Not only do I teach the mechanics, but I love to spend a few minutes engaging in conversation analyzing the student's interpretation of the music.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
