For each instrument, I have the same basic approach: discover what they like, assess what they can do, and begin with the fundamentals.  If a student is more advanced, I still like to spend time on fundamentals at the beginning anyway to see if we can fill in any foundational weakness that the student may have.   For each instrument, I also have a wide array of repitoire that I give students that zero-in on technical challenges a student will be presented with. I taught group guitar lessons to camp students. My experience is derived from my work as an instructor at an Ann Arbor music school. I have taught a wide range of ages, and enjoy every age I teach for different reasons. I believe everyone has something new to offer. I have played in punk, rock, and ska bands, as well as playing with certain groups at the music school. I have been teaching way back since i was a teenager. Was sort of a natural at getting across to people. my passion for music culminated with me getting an education in it and living it out. I regularly perform which is a motivating factor for many of my students. I always ask "why do this...so the walls in your 8 X 12 are entertained?"
