For beginner clarinetists, we will begin working out of the Voxman/Gower Beginner Method Book. We will spend the majority of the first lessons learning posture, holding the instrument, proper embouchure, blowing into the clarinet, breathing techniques, articulation, and how to develop sound through long tones and exercises. During the process, basics of music reading and music theory will be taught. For intermediate to Advanced students, we will learn all scales and arpeggios using the Klose Method book. Read More

If students are able to grasp these things, music will truly become a medium of expression for them. Read More

I'm a passionate musician who eats, sleeps, and breathes music. The minute I had a guitar in my hand since I was 14, I never stopped falling in love with the instrument. Since moving to Detroit at the end of 2015, I have become integrated within the local Detroit music scene, playing with two bands currently, which have played music festivals such as the Hamtramck Music Festival and the Detroit Concert of Colors. I have been teaching private lessons since High School, and have maintained a home studio ever since. I have taught young students of all ages in one-on-one settings in my studio, as well as in classroom settings as a group strings teacher and as an orchestra and general music teacher at a K-8 charter school. I bring with me years of experience in bringing music to life for kindergarteners, teenagers, and everyone in-between (I enjoy teaching adults, too)! Read More

Private lessons are tailored to the needs of each individual. In general, we will focus on tonal and technical development through scales, repertoire, long tones, and other exercises. We will use etudes as well as pieces to learn about history and music theory. Students will work on not only their performance skills, but aural development as well. I also encourage listening to other performers in addition to time spent practicing. Read More
