I have strived for my teaching style to be the most inclusive, accessible, and overall enjoyable experience. That is the way I was taught from previous instructors and I plan to utilize some of the beneficial resources they have shared with me over the years. I love teaching any style and genre of music and it is a great joy to be able to play with your students for different occasions! I make sure that all my students have the fundamental technical ability and appropriate reading skills. Depending on their age, experience and the style they want to learn, I build personal curricula for each individual that is challenging yet fun. I believe my experience as a professional musician and my training as an academic in the field of music education will cover the needs of any student no matter their capabilities or level of playing. For beginning strings students (even young children) to advanced students, I use the Suzuki method along with the accompanying sight reading book, I Can Read Music. Advanced students who have reached Suzuki book 6 and beyond are invited to seek out other repertoire as a supplement to their Suzuki studies. Students who are involved in an orchestra are also invited to bring excerpts of their music to their lessons so that I can help them to feel confident and prepared at playing tests and auditions. My teaching experience dates back to 2013, where I first began tutoring local junior high students for the summer band program. In private lessons I incorporate a complex combination of music theory, ear training, popular music, and classical! At the end of every lesson I take detailed notes on the students progress, and always check in to make sure we are playing something they want to learn! Read More

My lessons start with the student. I am not interested in making my students play music they themselves do not want to play. For this reason I always start with students by asking them their goals and what music they get excited about. After these things are identified I then get right into the music. I do not waste time going over chords or scales if it will not help my students play the music they want to play. Read More
